Every Fully Booked screen began as a sketch the founder approved before any code was paid for, and each answers an operator's or a customer's problem. The operator home screen became a menu of income, Get Covered kept the order of its hand-drawn flow, quotes and cancellation letters came from the founder's own wording, and the admin grew from five wireframed tabs into the network's control room. The MVP's screens were designed by another designer at Webanion; I redesigned phases 2, 3 and 4 myself in Figma, working from these flows.

## The Full Story

Each screen answers a business problem first, and was drawn on paper before it cost anything to build.

### Sketch before code

Fully Booked was built in phases on a founder's budget, so every flow was sketched and agreed before a line of code. The founder could see a whole feature on paper, argue with it, and change it while changes were free. Only then did the screens go to design and development.

The screens below follow that path from sketch to shipped design, and each one exists because an operator or a customer had a problem it had to solve. The MVP's screens came from a designer at Webanion; the redesign in phases 2, 3 and 4 was drawn in Figma by Webanion's founder, working from these flows.

### The home screen is a menu of income

The first sketch of the operator app, drawn in 2023, put earnings and a single Refer a Link button on the home screen. The principle held. Today the home screen shows what the operator has earned and every way to earn more, one tap each: customer, referred and affiliate enquiries, bookings, quotes, cancellations, contacts, Get Covered and Earn Commission.

### Get Covered, from flow to screens

Get Covered started as a hand-drawn flow: describe the trip, choose who sees it, all firms, partners or someone off the platform, then compare the firms that respond and accept one. The shipped screens keep that order exactly.

The operator in trouble sees who applied and at what price, and the covering operator gets a job and an invoice without a single phone call.

### A professional quote in seconds

Operators lose work to firms that simply reply faster. The Send a Quote flow was drawn with a shortcut: a quick quote that needs only a price, or an add-more path for the full trip. Both produce a branded PDF that ends with a link for the customer to compare more quotes, which brings even a lost quote back into the network.

### Cancelling without losing the customer

A breakdown used to mean an awkward call and a lost customer. The cancellation flow, sketched from the founder's own cancellation message, asks for the reason and writes a courteous letter that sends the customer to the network to find another firm quickly.

The customer is looked after, and the cancelling operator can still earn a commission on the rebooking.

### Following a lead like a parcel

The founder asked whether operators could watch a shared lead the way they track a parcel. The answer is a progress timeline on every referral: lead sent, customer filled in the details, operators responded, a firm booked, you have been paid. It turns an act of goodwill into something the operator can see paying off.

### Trust at the door

New operators had to be vetted before they could quote, without leaving them at a dead end. The paused screen was drawn from the way a bank tells a customer their account is under review: a timeline of account completed, approved and paused, a line saying the team is working on it, and a way to call or message support.

The founder releases the account from the dashboard, and the app moves on by itself.

### The admin, from wireframe to control room

The admin dashboard began as wireframes of five tabs: dashboard, companies, customers, referrals and transactions. The shipped dashboard keeps that skeleton and grew around it as the network did, adding approvals, wallets, covers, quotations and moderation without losing the first screen's purpose: what needs the founder today.
